Draft — have this reviewed before you publish it
This is a working draft prepared from how the DigniCare platform actually handles data. It is not legal advice. An Irish solicitor or data-protection adviser should check it, and you must fill in the bracketed details, before it goes live.

Who we are
DigniCare Ireland ("we") operates dignicareireland.com, a platform that introduces families to independent home care professionals. For the personal data described below we are the data controller.
- Controller: [registered legal name], [registered address]
- Company registration number: [CRO number]
- Contact for data protection: admin@dignicareireland.com
What we collect
From everyone with an account: name, email address, phone number, county and town, an optional profile photograph, and the date you were last active.
From caregivers, additionally: professional biography, hourly rate, types of care offered, availability, previous experience, education and qualifications, and employment references.
From businesses, additionally: company name, CRO registration number, category, website and a description of services.
From everyone using the site: the content of messages sent through the platform, connection requests, job postings and applications.
We do not ask for, and you should not send through this platform, health information about the person receiving care beyond what is necessary to describe the support required.
Why we use it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Creating and running your account | Performance of a contract |
| Showing your public profile in the directory | Performance of a contract |
| Sharing contact details after you both accept a connection | Performance of a contract |
| Checking Garda vetting and qualification documents | Legitimate interests — the safety of vulnerable people |
| Sending service emails about connections and applications | Performance of a contract |
| Keeping the platform secure and investigating misuse | Legitimate interests |
Who can see what
The platform is deliberately split so that contact details are not visible to everyone:
- Any signed-in user can see your name, photograph, town and county, and — for caregivers — your professional profile.
- Only people you have accepted a connection with, plus DigniCare administrators, can see your phone number, email address and references.
- Only you and DigniCare administrators can see your account record, including membership and billing status.
- Only the two people in a conversation can read its messages.
Who we share it with
Google Ireland Limited, as the provider of Firebase, hosts the database and handles authentication on our behalf as a data processor. Data is stored in Google's europe-west1 (Belgium) region, within the EEA. [Name your email provider here if you enable the Trigger Email extension.]
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Your account data is kept while your account is open. If you delete your account, or ask us to, the profile, messages, connections and applications are removed from our database. A minimal record of the deletion is retained for [period] so we can show a deletion was carried out.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Email admin@dignicareireland.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission: dataprotection.ie.
Security
Access to data is enforced by server-side database rules rather than by the website alone. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us. Traffic is encrypted in transit.
